Sports Gala of the Prague University of Economics and Business 2024

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the VŠE Event Center, in cooperation with the Center for Physical Education and Sport of VŠE, organized the Sports Gala of the Prague University of Economics and Business. Many significant figures contributing to the successful development of sports not only at the Prague University of Economics and Business were invited to the event.

One of the important moments of the entire gala evening was the official induction of the tennis player Jan Kodeš into the Sports Hall of Fame of VŠE. Among other things, he was also awarded for his sporting achievements during his tennis career.

The opening speech traditionally belonged to Petr Dvořák, the rector of the Prague University of Economics and Business. The director of the VŠE Center for Physical Education and Sport, Tomáš Pachl, also contributed to the ceremonial opening of the VŠE Sports Gala.

During this evening, athletes successfully representing the Prague University of Economics and Business on the Czech and international scene were presented. Gabriela Satková, a canoe slalom athlete, presented the real-life of a top athlete who manages to keep up with both studying and doing sports simultaneously. We also recalled the winner of the VŠE Athlete of the Year for 2023.

University sports were represented at the gala by Tomáš Hlaváč, one of the founders of the University Ice Hockey League. It is worth mentioning that the university league itself was established thanks to the support of the Prague University of Economics and Business and the negotiations that took place at the university in its early days.

The last part was dedicated to the presentation of Sports for All, supported by the VŠE Center for Physical Education and Sport and presented by Daniel Kašpar. Through Sports for All, the Prague University of Economics and Business not only allows students but also employees and their families to engage in various sports activities in the facilities available to the university.
